Our contribution to environmental protection

Sustainability at OMNINET

For many years, the OMNINET Group has placed great emphasis on making an active contribution to sustainability and assuming ecological and social responsibility. For the founding family, who are the sole owners of the entire OMNINET Group, this is not just a buzzword, but something that has been close to their hearts for years. More than 10 years ago, when the topic was not yet widely discussed, the decision was made to actively contribute to environmental protection and to combat global warming and climate change with various measures.

Sustainability has therefore always been part of the company's internal guidelines and a number of measures have been implemented to continuously improve the OMNINET Group's environmental performance:

  • Use of photovoltaic systems: For years, the OMNINET Group has used renewable electricity generation through photovoltaic systems to reduce CO2 emissions.
  • Use of air-to-water heat pumps: This energy-efficient technology helps us to sustainably reduce energy consumption for heating and hot water.
  • Green electricity: OMNINET purchases green electricity from its electricity supplier, which is generated from local hydroelectric, wind and/or photovoltaic plants and is therefore CO2-neutral and produces no radioactive waste.
  • Energy recovery: The waste heat generated during the operation of the server infrastructure is used directly to heat the offices via a heat pump installed in the server room.
  • Regional energy suppliers: The OMNINET Group relies on regional power suppliers, both to reduce the impact of large power lines on the landscape and to promote local power generation.
  • Supplier commitment to sustainability: We voluntarily oblige our suppliers to comply with the German Supply Chain Sustainability Act (LkSG) and attach great importance to environmental aspects when selecting them. This ensures that our entire supply chain meets the highest social, ethical and environmental standards.
  • Waste prevention: We promote waste prevention through targeted measures and use sustainable alternatives, such as using air dryers instead of paper towels.
  • Automated lawn care with robotic mowers: To minimize emissions, we use low-emission robotic mowers and ensure they are used in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Promoting home office options: By offering flexible home office options, we are reducing commuter traffic and helping to reduce emissions.

A key factor in our carbon footprint is the origin of the electricity we use. For this reason, OMNINET's headquarters in Eckental, Germany, relies on HEWA (Hersbrucker Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH), a regional electricity supplier that is itself actively committed to climate protection, and has opted for HEWA's green electricity.

The electricity mix purchased from HEWA is 100% hydroelectric, wind and/or photovoltaic. The TÜV monitors the origin of the green electricity and guarantees that

  • the green electricity comes from renewable energy sources,
  • the supplier is independent in its energy procurement,
  • the promotion of renewable energy is a key objective of the electricity supply and the company offering it,
  • the requirements for electricity labelling in accordance with the Ordinance on Guarantees of Origin of the Federal Environment Agency are met and
  • the renewable energy plants fully comply with the national regulations and requirements for landscape, nature and environmental protection.

This means that neither CO2 emissions nor nuclear waste are produced. By consciously choosing our electricity supplier, we are making an active contribution to promoting renewable energy and improving our environmental footprint.
